Madylin's Story
Madylin, a proud Gunditjmara woman, had been working towards home ownership for a couple years. Madylin tells us to not compare ourselves to anyone, to be kind and to look out for you.
Through the Victorian Homebuyer Fund (VHF) and Indigenous Business Australia (IBA), Madylin was able to become a homeowner at just 19 years old. See more on the VHF here.
Madylin's motivation for buying her own home was to have safe and stable housing. Deciding between housing and education was not a fair decision to make for Madylin. She needed somewhere that was hers.
Madylin had been saving and looking at real estate online for a while. She always did her research but even so there were some hiccups. When she was ready to buy, Madylin used a conveyancer to communicate between herself and her lender.
Madylin wants to see a future where Aboriginal people are dominant in the housing market.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work and live. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders both past, present and emerging. It always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.
